The wonders of interactive art

Interactive art is a creation or installation designed to encourage the viewer or audience to interact with the artwork in a way the artist has envisaged as part of his artistic concept. Interactive art has been around for hundreds of years in one format or another but really started to be identified as such in the early parts of the twentieth century, a notable example being the Rotary Glass Plates by Marcel Duchamp which required the machine to be turned on by a viewer and watched from a distance.

Interactive art really started to come into its own in recent years with improvements in technology, software applications, audio and video along with the interactive power of the internet.
